Holocene Screen
2019
Wood, plexiglass, acrylic paint and under-recycled and non-recyclable plastic
10 ft x 13 ft x 8 ft

Holocene Screen is a sculptural installation created in collaboration of the youth and public of Borrego Springs, California as part of the Candlewood Arts Festival, a public arts event taking place on March 29-31, 2019. Participants in the workshops were prompted to imagine and image a human, natural, and artificial landscape. Using paint and collage of under-recycled and non-recyclable consumer plastics, participants created plexiglass panels that were incorporated into the sculptural installation. Holocene Screen explores our complex relationship with nature and the environment and offers a kaleidoscopic view of the deep and varied ties that bind us all to the Anza Borrego Desert and larger ecological context.
